Dekton is the commercial name of an innovative and unique material, invented and patented by the COSENTINO group. The 100% mineral material that Dekton is made from, is a combination of the same raw materials used to make quartz, glass and porcelain countertops. It is the result of a high-end process of compression, high temperature heating and ultra-compacting of molecules, which produces a material with very low porosity, very resistant and without defects.
Dekton is used for indoor and outdoor kitchen countertops, table tops, bathrooms, floors and house facades.
For outdoor use, Dekton is really the best material: It is not only resistant to scratches from metal utensils, rust or alcohol stains but all types of abrasion in general. It is even possible to cut with a metal knife on it, without scratching the surface.
It is particularly insensitive to ultraviolet rays and does not lose its color or patterns over time. Finally, it resists temperatures above 250 degrees and is unaffected by extreme cold.
Dekton is therefore an ideal solution for outdoor table tops, it welcomes your barbecues in complete safety, its design offers a luxurious and long-lasting table decor and its resistance to climatic elements allows it to withstand the test of time.
Due to its exceptional resistance, Dekton is significantly more expensive than other materials such as granite and quartz. It can also sometimes be difficult to find from certain manufacturers, which is why we recommend Skyline Design, which now equips all the tables in its collections like Serpent and Surabaya with Dekton.
Laboratory tests have shown that in certain extreme cases of pressure or impact with very heavy objects, Dekton may flake off, but never in a significant way. It should not be forgotten that these tests did not succeed better with other materials, such as marble or quartz.
The cleaning and maintenance of Dekton table tops is relatively simple, due to the absence of porosity and the solidity of the material. Some commercially available cleaners are enough to bring shine and cleanliness. Detergents are preferred for stains and a simple blade will remove any stains of resin, paint or varnish accidentally projected on the surface.
Dekton is an innovative and relatively exceptional material. Beautiful and practical, it produces a luxurious, resistant and durable effect. While it is generally more expensive than quartz or granite, its longevity and benefits rank it at the top of the options in terms of durability and value for money. It will resist knives, fire and cold, bad weather for years and its easy maintenance protects it from stains and other discolorations.
